Robben & Sons Heating is family owned and has a strong history in the local community.
In 1932, Herman Robben founded the business with a goal of providing quality service for home heating equipment in Portland and the surrounding communities.
Over the next 20 years, the business endured the turbulence of World War II, experienced the rapid evolution of automatic heat, and saw oil replace wood in furnaces.
After Herman’s sons, Lionel, Dave, and Jack, joined the business in the late 1950s, the company began to experience tremendous growth. They added home oil delivery to their services and continued to grow their reputation as an upstanding business in the community.
The oil embargo and subsequent energy crisis in the 1970s brought price fixes and slow growth to the home heating oil business. Robben & Sons Heating saw the benefit of new technologies—like natural gas and air conditioning—and began installing them in the residential market.
As efficiency and energy conservation took center stage in the 1980s and 90s, the team at Robben & Sons Heating learned new technologies and practices to keep their place as the premier heating and cooling experts in the Portland area.
In 2000 Robben & Sons Heating merged with Airtech Heating of Vancouver, and then with Andrew Heating in Portland. These relationships have created a team of professionals unsurpassed in the area.
After celebrating our 80th birthday in 2012, we renewed our commitment to excellence in heating and cooling service and installation. Looking forward, we’ll remain a reputable and professional part of the Portland community.
